Our Initiatives
Empower veterans to lead fulfilling lives through comprehensive services.
We believe all veterans deserve the opportunity to live healthy, independent lives with access to food, housing, education, and economic stability. Our vision is to ensure every veteran and active-duty service member can obtain the benefits and services they are entitled to.
We serve veterans because the need is great:
-
45% suffer from mental illness
-
Their unemployment rate is 3% higher than the national average
-
1 in 3 homeless adults is a veteran
-
Over 5.5 million live with a disability
-
PTSD is a leading cause of homelessness and joblessness among vets
-
11% of homeless veterans are women
-
56% are African American or Hispanic, despite being only 13–15% of the U.S. population
Open Door Resource Center exists to change these outcomes—one veteran at a time.
